Hi there! I’m John Eilermann from St. Louis, Missouri, and I’m currently in college pursuing a degree in Comparative Literature. The vastness of the field I’m studying has kept me busy, and I don’t really mind it. It offers me an abundance of opportunities once I graduate.

The cross-disciplinary approach of the program I’m in enables the other students and me to take courses in philosophy, politics, and culture and intersecting literature with history. Never have I thought that taking up this field of study would open many doors for me in the future, as comparative literature is concerned with the relation between literature and other spheres of human activity. This connection includes history, politics, arts, science, and philosophy.

Having to grasp all these would mean that I’d have to be a lifelong student, which isn’t a bad thing. Over the years, I’ve realized that learning never stops and that as one acquires knowledge, it is for them to share it with others through whatever means possible. Some of the authors whose works I love are Roald Dahl, C.S. Lewis, Nick Hornby, and Jonathan Franzen.
